Hello, writers! Welcome to The Christian Writer's Den. Today you are in for a treat!
I'd like to introduce you to my friend, speaker and author Brenda Nixon. I met Brenda years ago on one of the writer's loops and we've been hanging around the internet together ever since! In addition to speaking and writing, she's a frequent instructor at writer's conferences across the country. I've had the joy of teaching with her several times and I can tell you she has a teaching spirit and a gift of encouragement. I hope you'll pay attention as Brenda shares her tips on becoming a speaker.

- Do You Really Need an Agent?

After my blog post, Scams, Shams, and Flim-Flams, a writer asked, "Do I really need an agent?" Well, you'll be happy to know I can confidently and unequivocally answer that question in three simple words: Yes, no, and maybe.
When I wrote my first book, I knew I didn't want an agent. I mean, why would I want to give a whopping 15 percent of my earnings to a total stranger when I could do it myself and keep all that money?
