About Me

As a little girl growing up in South Carolina, I never wanted to do little girl things. Instead of being a cheerleader, I played on the boy’s baseball team. Instead of running from the boys who pulled my hair, I chased them, threw them to the ground, and beat them up. Life was good.

But the world told me I had to become what all little girls became at that time—either a nurse, a teacher, or a secretary. It took me over 40 years to decide I was going to be what God had created me to be—a writer and speaker!

What an honor and a joy it is to share the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ in women’s ministry around the country. Whether you need a night of laugh-out-loud humor or a weekend of serious study, I have a message for you. By incorporating drama, music, and visuals, my programs offer engaging and practical application of spiritual truth, while inspiring women to laugh, learn, and love.

But women’s ministry isn’t my only speaking arena. I love teaching adults and students how to pen words that touch lives. I’ve had the privilege of teaching at writer’s conferences from Delaware to New Mexico and have taught my Writing is Fun! workshops to over 15,000 students in pubic and private schools.

My first women’s non-fiction book, Seeing through the Lies: Unmasking the Myths Women Believe (Regal Books), is now available nationwide, through online bookstores, or in our bookstore. For more information and endorsements from names you'll recognize, you can visit www.SeeingThroughTheLies.com. This book has been called "...A hilarious journey through all things female as we search for truth in a counterfeit world." It uses lots of humor to discuss the very serious message about the lies we believe and it can be read individually or as a group study book. And if you use Seeing Through the Lies as your women's study book, I'd love to visit your group by speaker phone! Just contact me for details.

Bitsy and the Mystery at Hilton Head Island, the third book in my children’s mystery series, is now available. In this book, Bitsy and her ball team go to historic Hilton Head Island for a tournament, but end up solving a mystery about loggerhead turtle nests.

The first two books in the series, Bitsy and the Mystery at Amelia Island (2005) and Bitsy and the Mystery at Tybee Island (2003) are loved by both boys and girls 8 to 13 years old.

In the Tybee Island story, Bitsy, a twelve-year-old tomboy, repeatedly gets into trouble as she searches for hidden treasure, discovers a skeleton, and faces a kidnapper. This Tybee Island mystery was #5 on the Savannah Morning News Bestseller List August 8, 2003 and is in its second printing.

In the second book, Bitsy is visiting friends on Amelia Island, Florida, where her promise to live at peace with everyone quickly fades when she faces the neighborhood bully. After an abandoned house reveals some deep, dark secrets, the kids team up to help a city resource center. Could evil spirits prevent the center’s success? But Bitsy’s troubles are only beginning. Although circumstances complicate her week, her determination to solve the mystery changes the future for those who need help on Amelia Island. This book is also in its second printing.

As a freelance writer, my articles have appeared in Focus on the Family publications, HomeLife, Christian Single, New Man Magazine, Family Doctor Magazine, The Charlotte World newspaper, www.keepkidshealthy.com, and many others. I am honored to be the four-time winner of the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference First Place Scriptwriting Award and have several screenplays running around in my head. Perhaps one day they’ll make it to paper.

South Carolina is still my home. My wonderful husband, Gary, and I are blessed with two beautiful daughters, two devoted sons-in-law, and four precious grandchildren who are always asking, “MaMa, will you tell us another story?” Life is good!
